We Love… Book Boyfriends

3dba3bcf3f3b3f8047368a050d89b57bWe all love to read, to just dive into the story and be part of it alongside our beloved characters. But when the hero is mysterious, dangerously handsome and to die for, the story is getting more interesting by the minute. But even if you are not into bad boys and just prefer the quiet and polished ones, you just can’t seem to ignore the fact that a fictional character caught your attention and bewitched you.

With the help of some of my friends, we want to present our ideal book boyfriends, to tell you exactly what we love about them and how we imagine them. Hope you enjoy reading as much as we enjoyed writing about them.

IMG_0015Erik Fiskare from “The Man I Love” by Suanne Laqueur.  When a character stays with me weeks upon weeks after reading their story, I know they own a piece of my heart forever.

As soon as I met Erik, who at the time was a freshman in college, I fell head over heels.  Of course, he is extremely easy on the eyes and undeniably charming, but it is his inner beauty I fell most in love with.  He is perfectly imperfect.  He loves fiercely and hurts deeply.  Erik is a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one.  He would die to save his friends, especially the love of his life, Daisy, and nearly did.

I adore second chances and a sufficient amount of groveling from a man when he messes up.  Well, Erik messes up in grand style when tragedy strikes his relationship with Daisy.  Instead of staying and dealing, he runs!  His brokenness gutted me. Although it took years for him to finally admit there is no Erik without his beloved Daisy, he swallows his pride, bares his soul, seeks her forgiveness and ultimately wins back the other half of his heart.  Thanks for the awesome memories, Erik!

IMG_0024Nipping at Erik’s heels for 2nd place as my book boyfriend, in all his splendid, sculpted glory is Navy SEAL, Matt McKinney from “Worth The Fall” by Claudia Connor.  He is a hero both on and off the battlefield.

As the wife of a twenty-seven year US Army Green Beret veteran, I adore men in uniform, especially a military uniform.  While reading Matt’s story, it nearly gave me the shivers, but in a good way.  Matt loves his woman, loves his family and loves his country.  The relationships he forges with the small children of his girlfriend, Abby, is nothing short of miraculous and incredibly heart-warming.  He is sweet, he is sexy, he is confident and he is ‘pure to the core’ male personified.  After meeting Matt, there was no doubt I would be slicing off another piece of my heart and placing it in his very capable hands for safe keeping.

For years, Matt has gone on missions to save others and gallantly serve our nation, but once he meets Abby and her children, he knows he has been given a new mission …… to love and protect the beautiful family he is now blessed with in his life.  Thank you for your service, Matt!

Archer Hale – Archer’s Voice: because of his loyalty, devotion, work ethic…. and it helps that he can’t talk and say stupid things like most men do.

Matty B – By Any Other Name: there’s something to be said about a man that would put everything on the line for a girl. And Matty put EVERYTHING on the line without being an asshole bout it.

DAEMON BLACKDAEMON BLACK

If you’ve read Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series you’re already familiar with the awesomeness that is Daemon Black. If you haven’t, let me tell you a little about him. Daemon isn’t the typical guy next door because, well, he’s an alien. But if you’re thinking little green men with antennae… think again. Daemon is devastatingly gorgeous with black hair, emerald green eyes and long dark lashes. He’s also snarky and sarcastic and arrogant. As main character Katy says: “Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.” But Daemon is also sweet and protective and incredibly loyal. He carries a lot on his shoulders and feels responsible for those that he loves. Daemon is my original book boyfriend and I never get tired of reading about him in all his snarky goodness.

Favorite quote: “Did you think you could stop me? I’ll burn the world down to save her.”

CAM HAMILTONCAMERON (CAM) HAMILTON

Coincidentally (or actually, not so coincidentally), my #2 book boyfriend is also courtesy of the wonderful Jennifer L. Armentrout. Cam first appeared in Wait For You, Jennifer’s new adult series by the same name. When I think ‘perfect guy’ I think of Cam. At six feet and 3 inches, with his blue eyes and sexy dimple, Cam is the definition of tall, dark and handsome. According to main character Avery: “He was gorgeous in all the ways that made girls do stupid things.” He’s funny and charming and outgoing. And he also happens to be the sweetest guy I’ve ever had the pleasure to read about. Cam is extremely thoughtful and patient and when he loves he loves with his whole heart. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that he bakes cookies! 🙂

Favorite quote: “I’m serious about you, Avery. If you want me for real, you have me.”

images-9-1When Ramona asked me to participate in an article about book boyfriends, the first person that came to my mind was Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I know this may be a controversial choice, but I don’t care! Few heroes have made me FEEL the way he did. The words that came out of his mouth made me laugh out loud, cry actual tears, and swoon harder than ever before.

Travis is the epitome of an alpha male. All of my favorite heroes are. He is possessive, protective, cocky, aggressive, hilarious, passionate, and strong. I loved all of those things about him, but what stole my heart was how hard he loved the heroine, and the vulnerable, sweet side of himself that he exposed only to her. Travis loved Abby with such fierce intensity that when he thought he was losing her, it made my heart ache. In fact, some of my favorite quotes from the book were taken from those moments.

“To douchebags!” he said, gesturing to Brad. “And to girls that break your heart,” he bowed his head to me. His eyes lost focus. “And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.”

“You can’t tell me what to do anymore, Travis! I don’t belong to you!”
In the second it took him to turn and face me, his expression had contorted into anger. He stomped toward me, planting his hands on the bed and leaning into my face. “WELL I BELONG TO YOU!” The veins in his neck bulged as he shouted, and I met his glare, refusing to even flinch. He looked at my lips, panting. “I belong to you.”

Overall, Travis Maddox is a hot, tattooed bad boy with a beautiful heart. He might be complicated, rough around the edges, and slightly impulsive, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

images-10Jaxson is arrogant, angry and aggressive. Yet he’s also beautiful, strong, and honorable. I unconditionally and irrevocably love every damaged part of him. And for the boy, who didn’t believe in love, he would always and forever have mine. ~Julia Sinclair

The heroine pretty much nailed it! I don’t think I can do a better job of explaining my feelings for Jax. Jaxson Reid from Fighting Temptation by K.C.Lynn is not just one of my favorite book boyfriends. He is a LITERAL hero. Julia met him when she was being attacked by two men, and he saved her. After that, Jaxson was not only her protector, but also her best friend. With a reputation as the town bad boy, he stayed friends with Julia for years despite wanting more, because he didn’t think he was good enough for her. She meant more to him than anything, and he wanted her to have the best life possible. Don’t get me wrong, he was being a total idiot, but I respected the fact that he loved her more than himself. Julia’s happiness was what mattered to him above all else, and I was ecstatic when Jax realized that he was what would make her truly happy!

Jaxson Reid owned me after reading this book. I loved his filthy mouth, his over the top alpha ways, and how sweet and caring he was when it came to Julia. Throw in the fact that he is a former Navy Seal who is sex personified and well, I would gladly have his babies!

Remington (Remy) in Real by Katy Evans

htrhfdhdfWhat a great, great guy! He is bursting with emotions, raw tenderness, fierce love, protectiveness and courage! As many heroes I love he is a little bit broken. I can’t tell you how I cried for teen Remington, pushed away by his parents, trying to survive and doing what he knows best: fighting. Unable to communicate his emotions but with his Ipod and songs describing his moods, his feelings. Fear to be rejected if his true self was revealed. So sexy, male, strong and vulnerable at the same time. Sometimes a lost kid in the body of a heavily muscled grown man. Forget Christian Grey or Gideon, that’s my new hero.

He is all possessive, protective and caring. When I read « His tongue flashes out to lick a wet path up my neck as an arm coils around my waist, and he crushes me to his body, whispering, “Mine.” I was a goner. Poof, done!

I think I just got pregnant reading about this powerful, raw, sex on a stick male!!! He’s just broken enough to be my kind of fantasy. Cherry on top he is an Alpha and I could always feel protected by his powerful arms, and torso, and tights and …. He is MY big lion!!!!

Ehd from Transcendence by Shay Savage

I loved Ehd! He is a “savage” but he is so sweet and considerate with Elizabeth. He is like a kid at times, cowering and cringing after he did something to upset her, he didn’t dare to look at her, pretending not to exist…

At the beginning, he feels so lonely and desperate he nearly does not want to live any more. And then, he finds Beth! She is his hope and brings him a surge of happiness. He’s found his mate!
But he really, really broke my heart when he thought she didn’t want to be his mate. He would be alone and lonely again. Even so, he wanted to give her fresh fish to feed her and help her leave him to find her “tribe”. Gosh, I had to grip my tissue and retain my sobs! How can you not fall in love for such selfless, protective and caring male?
To our modern eyes, he was like a kid. He was a breath of fresh air, so cute when he wanted was to “put a baby in her belly” (it made me smile with his refreshing way of speaking of his desire and his need). Ehd is also very determined! He will have to overcome the “non” language barrier. He will make mistakes but he is always driven by the need to protect, cherish and help his mate.
Let me say, this “Neanderthal” is much better than many of our contemporary males!

Connor Cobalt

hdshdfh

First appearance in  Addicted to You  by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie

He is a narcissist, a genius, and highly ambitious. For me Connor is PERFCT! He is unapologetically him. He is blunt, almost painfully honest, and for Rose he would do anything. His bromance with Loren Hale is truly the BEST. He had nothing, no friends, no family, just ambition. Rose gave him everything. He refuses to be defined, or put in a box. He is smarter than anyone I’ve ever read about. He is the ultimate UNICORN.

“My hand lowers to the small of her back, and I leave her with one last kiss to the forehead that feels more genuine than all the others. “You’ve bewitched me, body and soul.”

She glares. “And you ruined it with a quote from Pride and Prejudice.”
I grin. “What? I thought we were purposefully being cliché.”
“Maybe next time, quote the book and not the film.”
My eyebrow arches and I recite theatrically, “You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope.” I shake my head. “Doesn’t have the same ring to it, darling.”
A laugh escapes her lips.”

“Why am I with you? You’re so conceited arrogant – ”
“Narcissistic, attractive, lovable, brilliant.”
“That wasn’t an invitation for you to compliment yourself.”

Curran Lennart

First appearance Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews.

Curran is the quintessential ALPHA. He is a lion shifter, beastlord, and just all-round the biggest and baddest shifter out there. He goes against gods, and monsters and comes out ROARING.

I think what I love the most about him is his willingness to give up his pack to be with Kate. At the end, it’s really just about those two.

And to think that the first time he met Kate he thought she was retarded. She challenged him with “Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.” But ever since that fateful meeting, they made it work.

“Curran shrugged and pulled me back to him. ‘You don’t pick the family you’re born into. You pick the one you make. I already chose my mate and glued her ass to the chair to make sure she knew it.”

There are so many quotes about Curran and Kate – those two together make for hilarious times.

“Kate short-circuits my brain. In my head we always have these clear coherent exchanges, but once we meet, what comes out it is, “Kate, do what I say or I’ll kill you.” Her default reply is, “Fuck you!” and we go downhill from there.”

“I’ll call you,” he repeated.

“If you call me, I won’t pick up the phone.”
“You will wait by the phone for my call, and when it rings, you will pick it up and you will speak to me in a civil manner. If you don’t know how, ask someone.”

“Too much excitement, Your Majesty?” I asked.
“He was standing too close.”
“He was asking about Andrea.”
“Too close. I didn’t like it.”

“No, you’re not going with him.”
I crossed my arms. “Who decided that?”
He put on his “I’m alpha and I’m putting my foot down” expression. “I decided.”

James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Frasier is everything. The way he loves is so deep and pure, it’s beautiful. I love the way fights for Claire. He’s gorgeous, loving, caring, a family man, loyal and complete alpha male. This man murdered half of England for Claire without batting an eye. That is so damn sexy. There’s a chance I may need mental help because I found that appealing.

sfdgfdgd

My second book boyfriend is Colton Donovan from Driven by K. Bromberg.

His cockiness is so damn sexy! There’s something about that man that gets me all hot and bothered. There are so many books out there with awesome book boyfriend potential but as far as who I would bring to life – Colton takes the cake. He loved the shit out of woman and would truly do anything for her. He was able to let his guard down when needed. His love was fierce and that’s what I enjoyed about him. Every girl wants her man to love her fiercely and Colton could do that all day everyday.

shrdhfdhfI have very specific tastes and it takes a lot to be classified as my Book Boyfriend.  I adore commanding alphas who love to talk dirty.  My heroes are also typically damaged in some way and therefore don’t act or react as we’d typically think of as normal.  I’m drawn to darker, commanding, over the top alphas.  Nothing gets me hotter than a man who knows what he wants and stops at nothing to get it, especially if what he wants is hot, dirty sex!  My main alpha love is Hudson Pierce from Laurelin Paige’s Fixed Series.

This series was actually my gateway into romance and erotica.  Hudson and Laynie’s story left such a great impression, but it was really mostly Hudson.  He’s described as “the most breathtaking man on the planet.”  He has chiseled cheek-bones, a strong jaw, perfect floppy brown hair, and the most intense gray eyes ever. He’s a businessman who doesn’t think he’s capable of love, but that doesn’t stop him from pursuing Laynie.  Throughout the series, he’s giving, but also aloof.  He supports her unequivocally and has a protective and possessive streak a mile wide.  He’s sheer perfection.

hfdgfdAnother very dear book boyfriend of mine is Trey from Suzanne Wright’s Feral Sins.  Trey takes alpha-male to the next level.  And that’s not just because he the alpha-wolf of his pack, but he’s so very possessive and protective of his mate.  Trey is described as a homicidal nutcase, but seriously hot.  He has arctic blue eyes, a harsh scowl, ripped muscles, and a hard penetrating stare.  He’s also described as having a hungry look and actually turns feral during battle in his wolf form.  OMG!  I’m getting hot just thinking about it!

What I love most of Trey is his fierce protectiveness of not only his mate, but his entire pack.  He hard and tough, but will literally die for his pack.  It just doesn’t get much better than for me.

And here are mine favorite heroes:)

Gabriel Emerson – The Gabriel Series by Sylvain Reynard

gabriel

No matter how many books I read or how many heroes I encounter, no one was able to top Gabriel Emerson from my nr.1 rank. After reading this series he was just stuck in my head, and despite not being perfect, with a lot of flaws and a past that haunted him a long time, he managed to win my heart irrevocably.

He is strong, smart, determined, with passionate soul in search for a person to heal him and make him feel worthy of living. His love story with Julia is unforgettable and I guarantee you he will be on your list as well.

Kellan Kyle – The Thoughtless Series by S.C.Stephens

devin-paisley-b981dd1698ec3c34adc2c5d3f4f3407d-large-1664357

Despite all the controversy around the famous love triangle from this series, I was hooked by its hero. Kellan is no average musician, he is a rock star, born to entertain and to love Keira despite all odds. He is passionate in everything he does and although morally his affair with Keira broke barriers and caused a lot of damaged, I could understand and connect with him.
