We Love… Katy Evans

For this interview I am giving you the amazing Katy Evans. She is one of my favorite authors since reading Real and beginning with that story she managed to bewitch me with her out of this world plots, broken heroes and feisty heroines. I hope you will love this interview as much as I do 🙂

Ramona: To start with, please share something about yourself with the readers 🙂

Katy: Hi! I am Katy Evans, author of the Real series, the Manwhore series and the White House series. Its a pleasure to be here with you today. 😉

Ramona: What do you love most about writing?

Katy: Experiencing life (and love) through my characters eyes.

Ramona: If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Katy: Be patient, every book is different and has a different time and process, and always stick to writing what you love. Ramona: What does literary success look like to you? Katy: When my readers love my books enough to leave feedback, reviews, send messages and emails, it means my books touched them in some way that they did me. It means everything.

Ramona: How do you select the names of your characters?

Katy: Its funny because they seem to select themselves. I simply have a feel and a certain knowledge of the character, then go through a list of names, and whichever seems to vibrate or stand out – that is their name!

Ramona: Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

Katy: I definitely enjoy reviews that my bloggers or readers share with me, and its always heartwarming to see when they “get” it, when their experience with my book matched mine – as that is always my goal!  The bad ones definitely make me feel disappointed, but I don’t let them influence my writing. I find that changing to please someone affects my work and my enjoyment of my work, so I just take the good, see if there is any improvements I can glean from the bad, and keep going as planned. I let the art itself be the fuel behind my stories.

Ramona: For Mr. President, what kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning to write it?

Katy: I researched for about three months, then began the writing process. I read political books, history books, and anything referencing life in the White House. It was truly enjoyable and intriguing!

Ramona: What book was the easiest and most difficult to write?

Katy : Easiest – Real and Legend.

Hardest – Mr. President (the research was time consuming and I wanted to stay as closely as possible to reality.)

Ramona: For Real, what was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

Katy: I love it when Remy tells Brooke his big secret and how they come together so passionately. So many emotions there!!

Ramona: Who are your books mostly dedicated to?

Katy: Everything! Life, music, love…the good or bittersweet things. Like falling down and getting back up again or second chances.

Ramona: If you had only one 1 second to think, which one of your books are you the most proud of and why?

Katy: I have a special love for my Manwhore books. From Saint to Tahoe to Callan….I just had such a great time with these boys and their girls!

Ramona: How often do you go on book tours?

Katy: Not very often. I am a bit of a hermit and get truly tired when I travel, I also love sticking to my writing schedule so I have been staying close to home for a while.

Ramona: What surprises do you have in stored for your readers?

Katy: I am working on a very addictive story that I am truly excited about! I should have news on it very soon and hope to release it in August!
