My rating: 4/5 stars
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a Mafia Romance and frankly, I forgot how it feels like. Mafia is an intense business and if you decide to dive into a story like this, you need to prepare for crimes, intense scenes, and passionate lovers. But add a little madness to the mix and you get EXACTLY this book.
Nicolas Russo is supposed to marry Adriana Abelli and never look back. This is a simple business transaction and it will go smoothly. The only problem is that Nico is fairly attracted to Adriana’s sister, Elena Abelli, only that she is off-limits because of a huge mistake that marked her forever. This will of course, not impede Nico from being near her and wanting her, in a forbidden way. As things will progress, Elena will no longer be a fantasy, but a certain thing, and Nico will have to face his reality – having a wife on papers, but having to fight for her love, because it’s what makes him feel alive.
Nico and Elena are bot nut heads and I loved them for that. Nico was extremely intense, severely tempered, and very explosive, and Elena was confusing and unpredictable, never knowing what she would do next. This mix was very interesting to watch because they both wanted to not render their connection, but failed miserably. I loved how Nico was always watching Elena, being in her presence, but never engaging and Elena knew they were not allowed to, but kept doing that game. There was no cheating involved, but that forbidden element was so intense and made you read faster and faster.
Of course, there will be blood and tears, because a good Mafia Romane knows how to deliver. Although the violence was mild, you could sense it in the air and it made a difference in the book. Adding the love story was the cherry on top and the romantic scenes were AMAZING.
So, if you crave an intense and kind of crazy hero, a feisty heroine, and some off-the-charts chemistry, this story was written for YOU.
