The Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

My rating: 5/5 stars

To begin with, this was my favorite book of 2023. It was INCREDIBLE and it brought me this addiction that I really cannot explain. I fell in love with Rebecca’s universe, the characters, and her world, which brought me so much joy, angst, and terrific moments. It is the book to read, not just for Fantasy lovers, but for READERS.

I think the characters really were the ones that impacted me the most because they were all different but had something unique, which drew attention.

Violet Sorrengail made me fall in love with her because of her determination and strength, which have proven to be essential in Basgiath War College. Even though she wanted to become a Scribe, because of her love for books and study, her mother forces her by legacy to enter the Riders Quadrant. Her physical assets are not impressive, therefore Violet had no chance of becoming a Rider and NO CHANCE at all to connect with a dragon. She proved everyone wrong with her intelligence, wits, and desire to move forward, even if she was in pain or suffering.

Enter my newest book boyfriend – Xaden Riorson. I am so in love with this man, that I cannot express it and can’t see straight. He is not 100% good, he is a mixture of good and bad, and when you add grumpiness, vulnerability, passion, intensity, and loyalty, you get him. Xaden is the Wingleader of Violet’s quadrant and even if he has all the motives to hate her, he will find her fascinating and they will develop a love story.

What I loved about this book was the banter, the humor, the love stories, and the drama, all being mixed into a cool story. It gave me that addiction, that drive to keep on reading and I found myself fascinated and couldn’t get enough. This story is not for teens, because the war scenes are explicit and also the love parts, which are highly graphic but SO GOOOOOD!!

Even though I am not a fan of dragons and stories with them, I loved these dragons. They were funny and sweet and the connections with their riders were something I’ve never read about before. I really think Rebecca nailed this part also and I am so looking forward to reading “Iron Flame” but I am afraid, knowing that the 3rd book is not even written yet. :(((
