My rating: 4/5 stars

This is my last book of 2023 and I really enjoyed it, because I needed a light book, that could cheer me up. I’ve never read something from Jessica Joyce, but I’ve discovered a very talented author, with potential for Romance, that could build a strong plot and make you feel all sorts of things as you progress with the story.

Noelle recently lost her grandma and she is devastated by this because she lost her best friend. The connection they had was unique and living without it is extremely hard. When she discovers decades-old photos and letters that belonged to her grandma, addressed to someone she didn’t know about, Noelle begins an investigation to find the mysterious guy her grandma loved in the past. She used those photos and letters and made a Tik Tok, which went VIRAL.

To her surprise, that person is called Paul, the grandpa of her old high school nemesis, Theo… Soon after learning about his identity, Noelle forms a very strong bond with Paul as they remember her grandma and love story, trying to put together the chain of events that marked their relationship. Learning that they wanted to elope and have a honeymoon trip, Noelle wants to pay tribute to her grandmother and make that trip for her, but Paul insists on coming along and guess who? Yap, Theo…

So, long story short, Noelle, Paul, and Theo take a 2-week trip together. During that period, Noelle and Theo will fall in love and will try to work out their differences to make their relationship work.

The plot was a little rushed, but the timeline was short, therefore the couple didn’t have much time to connect and begin developing feelings. Noelle was very sweet, a little mature for my tastes, but I didn’t want her to be that way, it didn’t suit her. Her passion is photography but she put it on hold because her lack of confidence made her uncertain of her abilities and future. On the other side, Theo was the grumpy one, but the successful one, being the CEO of a traveling app, even at a young age. Putting them in contrast, they are extremely different, but when they collide, they are united not only by attraction, but they find in each other something they miss in their lives.

I loved the banter between them but also the steamy scenes, which surprised me a little, because they were very explicit, but well-written and had the right effect. The story was cute, and relaxing and the traveling trope and enjoyable, but I gave it 4 stars because it was just too basic, even with all these cute elements that I described. Overall, a very nice read, and I recommend it.
