I always liked K.C. Lynn because her stories are complex and knows how to deliver good Romance content. Generally, her heroes are tormented and have gone through some traumatic experiences or the heroines are hiding from something that hurt them deeply. But not all her stories keep the same pattern. Don’t get me wrong, I like a bit of drama because it makes the story more intense and deep, but sometimes, you need your sweet love story.
The Magic of Heart Mountain was a very sweet but short story, about 2 different people who come together by chance and discover how good they are together. Hollis is traveling from California to help her cousin run a Christmas shop and while doing so, because of the bad weather, she bumps into the car of office Mike, who is very grumpy with her. Even if the conversation was not a sugar-coated one, we could feel the tension between these 2, in a good way. Hollis then ends up befriending Poppy, Mike’s little sister and they will get to spend more time in each other’s company.
What can I say about the book? I wanted more from Hollis and Mike because I feel like I just received a summary of their story – I know this is supposed to feel like an Intro, but the more I dived into the story, the more I liked the town and all the characters that came together in that community. I wanted to get to know the main characters better and feel them evolve together, but I think I will receive that in Book 1 – The Legend of Heart Mountain. But at first glance, you will love the story and the intensity of the romance K.C. is targeting here, all in a very heart-warming plot.
