My rating: 4/5 stars

I continue the Never After series with a ruthless passion because it is amazing and the retelling element sold my heart and forgot to give it back. So here I am, the second book, which is not a retelling.

Sara lost everything she ever loved and The Scarred Prince is to blame, therefore she will get her revenge whatever it takes. She is to be married to King Michael Faasa, but her purpose is higher. She wants to see the family line eradicated and burn the country to ashes. But she was not expecting Tristan, his brother, to shake her the way he did, to make her question everything and forget her mission. Torn between attraction and vengeance, things will become interesting, because all it’s fair in love and war.

I gave the book 4 stars Vs the previous 5 stars because this was longer but in an unnecessary way. There were boring parts, without any context and I found myself in a fast-forward situation. I think this is the only aspect I didn’t like and it really interfered in my rating. But the rest was very good. Tristan was a true villain, intense, mysterious, and dark, but the kind of person you are glad to read about. It’s a little bit of a struggle to find the bad person as the hero, but you get used to it quickly because you enjoy it in a dirty way.

I loved his connection with Sara, his violence, and the way he pulled everything together to get rid of his brother. He plots, and schemes, but loves Sara and their hidden relationship increases the suspense even more.

Sara has a very hard exterior, but inside she is vulnerable and a woman who needs love. Her mission was diverted by Tristan and I really liked seeing her walls crumble, being torn apart by doubt and duty. She is brave and fearless, but in the same time she has no problem being scared. She is a true paradox, but a very good one, and I enjoyed following her story.

Until now, all the series is a true surprise and every book has it’s elements that make you 100% addicted to the story. Please read it and thank me later.
