My rating: 3/5 stars

L.J. Shen is a yes author for me – I love her style, her romance which goes towards an erotic path, her humor and smart dialogues, and most of all the diversity she uses in her stories. Her Romance is not 100% pure, she adds action, drama, and business elements, that as a whole, create a very dynamic story to read about.

The Boston Belles” sounded interesting at the beginning, so I began the book four months ago, read two chapters, put it on hold, and continued it two weeks ago. I don’t think I was in the mood because I totally destroyed the atmosphere and just struggled to finish it. So, at this point in my review, I don’t know if it was me or the story to blame, but unfortunately, this is my ranking.

Hunter Fitzpatrick is a total playboy, notorious for his dating life and rich family, without having a care in the world besides partying and women. His portrait is vividly engraved in our mind and because of this, you don’t expect the change to be realistic. When a sex tape of him is released to the media, his father takes urgent matters and proposes to Sailor Brannan an agreement – make his son celibate and trustworthy and she will have the money for her Olympic career in archery. Basically, she will be his nanny for some months, with benefits for both of them.

The story was a typical enemies-to-lovers, with Hunter being a pain in the ass and Sailor concentrating on her archery career, but in-depth, Hunter is more than a stupid playboy. His childhood was non-existent, his mother neglected him and his father was constantly telling him he was not good enough, compared to his older brother Cillian. Sailor will be the only one to step out for him, to show people that he can be more than the media labeled him. Their dynamic was interesting, with funny and smart dialogues, to Hunter constantly making sexual innuendoes over every sentence Sailor is forming.

The idea was funny, but I couldn’t connect not necessarily with them, but with the plot. There will be a huge deal with Hunter’s inheritance, with the contract their family signed for Hunter and Sailor and when adding them up, they didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I don’t know if it was me or if I had a bad time adjusting to the main plot, but it was boring and not very well done. I’ve read smarter stories from Shen and unfortunately, this one was not very complex.
