My rating: 5/5

If you had told me that I would be giving 5 stars to a Horror and Romantic story, I would have laughed out loud. Horror is not my favorite genre and considering all the trigger warnings this book had, it should have scared me. But no, this series was a total surprise for me and I loved the second book as much as the first. The whole series was amazing and I recommend it to anyone in search of an intense Romance and horror element that will make you not sleep at night.

Leather and Lark” is the second book of “The Ruinous Love Trilogy“, with Lark Montague and Lachlan Kane as the protagonists. The main trope is arranged marriage. I am not a fan of this trope, but what happened here surpassed my expectations and I loved every minute of it. For me, Lachlan was a surprise I didn’t see coming, probably because I was so immersed in Rowan in the first book that I forgot other characters existed.

In order to keep everyone safe and alive, Lark proposes to Lachlan an arranged marriage. He reluctantly agrees because he has no choice, but at the same time, he feels so connected to Lark, it scares the living Hell out of him. His connection with his brothers, his loyalty and his intensity were OUT OF THIS WORLD!! From the 2 of them, Lark is the most guarded and scared of a physical connection, because of her past and all her suffering. If you read the first book, you know already her past with Sloane and you will understand why she doesn’t do relationships. 😦

So, their fake marriage transforms step by step into a sweet and intense love story, because Lachlan is giving his best to make it work. He surprised me with his perseverance and the way he fell first was delicious and heartwarming. His hard exterior was outshined by his personality and his heart and what can I say? He won me over rapidly.

I also loved Lark – her heart, her fears, her talent and passion for arts and crafts (!!!!), her vulnerabilities, but also her courage to make sacrifices without blinking for the people she loves. She makes sense with Lachlan and together, they make an intense couple, which I loved with all my heart. 😦

Their romantic scenes were indeed spicy, but very well written and intense and original, not like you see in other Romantic stories. So yes, Leather and Lark is a unique book, with interesting characters and with developments you won’t forget so soon.

Fionn Kane, you are next – I am also very sad, because this means the end of this series.
