My rating: 3.5/5 stars

This series has had ups and downs for me, and frankly, I am so confused about my ranking. There are books that I loved, books that I didn’t, and there are times when I feel like different authors wrote the whole series. I can’t understand how somebody can write so beautifully, like Luca and Valentina or Dion and Faye, and absolutely kill me with Zane and Celeste and now, Raya and Lex… Not to mention Ares, who I prefer to leave out of the story and pretend that only Raven exists…

This book is about Lex and Raya. To be frank, I didn’t learn a lot about Lex throughout the series, except that he was a very good friend of Celeste and loved technology, surveillance, and cars. Besides that? Nothing. We find him searching Raya’s background because he needs to be in control, needs to know who his grandma is making him marry, and this shows how obsessed he is with control.

Raya is a student and at the same time works with her father at his company, building solar cars. Having financial problems, they need the merge with the Windsor’s in order not to lose the company, and therefore, Raya agrees to marry Lex, without knowing that they already met at a party and got extremely close in the process.

From my POV, the plot was not very well developed here, lacking some dynamics and consistency, and AGAIN, the male character was no match for the heroine. Lex had a background, but his personality was not there; he was not offering something to Raya to actually cling to. He was shallow, controlling, and I could not understand or feel his love. Maybe at the end, he wanted to prove something, and he managed to make a change, but there were a few moments when we clicked.

Raya was ok for me, but not a bad-ass heroine or something, just a regular working girl who wanted to save her family business and married a Windsor. She felt hard for him, as all of them did, but Raya was mature and smart for her age, and wanted to be independent, not to be controlled. The plot was a little different from the others, not that complex, but it did bring out a lot of elements like trust, control, being constantly afraid of falling for someone, and being betrayed.
