My rating: 3.5/5 stars

This series has been so viral that the effect was 100% felt. I saw the book everywhere, and it brought up the necessity to buy and read it as soon as possible. I am not a fan of Dark Romance novels, but I enjoy a good story, with great characters and chemistry.

Lights Out” follows Aly, a trauma nurse who is extremely committed to her job. Every day, she sees tragedy, and all this has made her stronger. She is not a damsel in distress; she fights, she is smart, and she has a current obsession with a hot guy on social media called the Faceless Man. He is mysterious, sexy, with good moves, and he seems totally capable of turning her darkest fantasies to life. Plus, he is wearing a mask, masking his face, but showing off a gorgeous body, covered all in tattoos.

What Aly doesn’t know is that the Faceless Man is her ex-roommate, Josh, a hacker who has been obsessed with her, following her and even entering her house and putting cameras to track her every move. Even if we are aware of the massive red flag, we know that Josh will never hurt her, but his obsession is so powerful that even Aly is pulled in, not knowing exactly how to react – to jump into this experience or call the police.

This is the plot of the book – Aly will meet the Faceless Man and they will begin a sexual journey, in which she will have to learn his identity. Josh was a very special character because he was trying his best to not become his father, a notorious serial killer. By feeling the way he does about Aly and by wanting to do the things he wants to, he feels like he will turn into his dark side. I am not saying that all his thoughts are NORMAL, but he is far from his father. He made a really good team with Aly, and their chemistry was really good. They have the same passion for a dark experience, and they will use it in bed.

What actually made me give this rating was the second part of the book, which was extremely boring. In the first part, we get to see this cat and mouse game, Aly is trying to figure out who the Faceless Man is, and they are just experimenting with stuff, but after that, something happens, and the plot is just weird, without piquing my interest at all. I expected the chase to last longer, or if not, add more drama and suspense afterwards. So the last 100 pages were meh… They will turn into this power couple, but I expected them to experience more and the struggle to be real. In this current scenario, I thought the action lacked dynamics and it was a little boring.
