My rating: 4.5/5 stars

I am over my head, obsessed with this series, and it definitely has something within its pages that keeps me hooked, because I simply cannot put it down. It brings me immense joy to read it, and even though it is a little predictable and has a preconceived structure that follows all the volumes, I love it. :((((

Delicate Escape” is the second book in the series, and it follows Thea and Shep. I loved them from the first book, and I was convinced Thea had a secret. When I read that she will be Shep’s love interest, it sounded so cool and so well thought about, because only this guy could heal a heart and put it back together.

Thea is running from an abusive boyfriend, and Sparrow Falls was the best idea for her. She was alone, with her cat and her greenhouse, and love was off the radar completely. She could get used to this life, without complications, and living in a simple way. But even if she didn’t want to admit it, she was lonely and cared for company. She has major trust issues, and she is frightened to let anyone near her.

Shepard is the hero of the story, the boy who was abandoned by his biological mother and taken in by the Colsons. He grew up so nicely, owning a construction company that was thriving, and besides that, he is a good man, with a good heart, patience, and intelligence. I really liked the way the author portrayed him, because I fell in love with his character and the way he was patient and loved Thea. I am not sure you can get this in real life.

If you ask me who I loved more, I would go with Shep, because he was too perfect and even though I was more than aware of that, I liked the way his character was created, the way he treated Thea and the way he practically breathed. :))) So yes, everything he did was perfect.

The connection between Thea and Shep was a slow burn because of the trust issues Thea had. But, the story blended out so nicely, with so many things Shep was determined to do for her, and it was amazing to see how slowly she was willing to let her guard down and trust him. After she managed to let herself feel more, a new Thea arose, and you will love her. She is funny, romantic, determined, and powerful, not the frightening person we were introduced to in the beginning.

As a trademark of the author, the plot will be mixed with some drama and some ups and downs, which will leave us shocked and a little scared for our characters. But don’t worry, all of them have HEA.
