Traaaaace!! I cannot believe I got to his book! Trace is such a strong presence, the sheriff of Sparrow Falls, and the one person who won’t be intimidated or made to back down on his word. A good father to Keely, he didn’t put love on the table because he was afraid of being heartbroken again. BUT!!!! Ellie Pierce came to Sparrow Falls and took his world by storm by being his complete opposite.
The story is essentially the same. One of the characters has a backstory and is threatened by something, and it’s up to the Coltons to save and protect them at all costs. Ellie ran from a tyrannical father and an abusive fiancé, and Sparrow Falls seemed the perfect solution for her simple life. She wanted a place for herself, to make her choices, to live how she wanted, and after seeing how happy her brother Linc was, this escape was exactly what she craved. Her new neighbor happens to be the sheriff in town, the most overprotective and grounded person she knows – Trace. He lives by the rules and follows them to perfection because that was the perfect way for him to do his job and be a good father. No distractions, no love, no nothing.
Ellie and Trace were so similar, but so different. Ellie is a total social butterfly, full of life, but so afraid to spread her wings. She is such a good person and has a wonderful bond with Keely. Those are such sweet moments, and you could see how well she fits into the Colton family. Trace was overprotective, but very sweet and kind, with an intense side that he only shows when he is 100% sure of his feelings. It is always fascinating to see how men change when finding the right person to share their life, and Trace was a perfect example. Ellie changed him, but he also provided that care and safe feeling she wanted and craved so much.
The story has suspense and a little drama, but you will mostly get the romance between Ellie and Trace and the wonderful way they become a family of three.
