My rating: 5/5 stars

I am going to start my review by saying that this book is my absolute favorite of 2026 so far. It was amazing, and although I am not a fan of the single dad trope, this story was off the charts for me, balancing multiple subjects and not putting any one of them in the spotlight.

Caught Up” is Kai and Miller’s book. I was very curious to meet Kai, and, dear God, he didn’t disappoint, being everything I’d even wanted in a male character. A single hot dad to baby Max, thrown in a whirlwind of responsibilities and cares, a famous baseball athlete, and a guy who raised his baby brother. This is the definition of perfection, and even if he didn’t realize it, Kai is an example to everyone around him, not to mention an amazing friend and colleague in the field.

Miller is Monty’s daughter, Kai’s coach, the one that we briefly heard about, but never got the opportunity to meet properly. She is a famous chef, and because of her profession, she travels the world, having a nomadic-like behavior. Her profession is her world, and she wants to make her father proud. When her creativity hits a sore point, she needs a break, and Monty hires her to be Max’s nanny and accompany him and the team on tour until she needs to go back to her life.

Kai and Miller don’t like each other at the beginning, because they are very different. Kai is rooted and has a duty to his child by being a single dad, and Miller is constantly moving, not interested in having a family. Even though there is chemistry between them from day 1, they fight it hard. Kai knows what he is up against, and Miller just wants to give in to the passion and have fun a little, but the lines will get blurry, and everything will come apart. A few moments of fun will turn into a serious connection, and feelings will get intense. One thing leads to another and BANG!

I loved both characters to death – Kai was such an amazing guy, loving Miller but not persuading her to stay, making her take the decision, and not manipulating her to give up her career. He was so sincere, so intense, and his relationship with her, adding to the one with Max, was PERFECT. They make such a beautiful couple, and even though I wanted Miller to make up her mind, how Kai handled the situation was amazing. :(((((( I loved Miller with Max; her care and unconditional love were breathtaking. She was the mom Max never had, and in only 2 months, she managed to be his world. Some scenes with her left me crying my heart out. 😦 It was so touching to see how practically a stranger can love a child so much in such a short period of time. I loved every minute and every interaction, because it was genuine and sweet.

The whole book was perfectly balanced, emotionally and very well written, with such good characters, fun, relatable, and normal, it took my breath away and made me believe once more in true love. Isaiah, here I come. 🙂
