Movie review: Gabriel’s Inferno part 1 & part 2 by Sylvain Reynard

I’ve been waiting for a long time to write this review, but after Gabriel’s Inferno Part 1 I couldn’t feel I was 100% ready to say my likes and dislikes. It was mostly because I was just getting accustomed to the characters, to the choice Passion Flix done and I wanted to see where their vision went. Yesterday I’ve seen Gabriel’s Inferno Part 2 and I was extremely happy and cheerful after seeing it because it was so accurate, to good, so intense and sweet that I was smiling afterwards like a fool. 🙂

For you to understand my feedback, I loved the series from the first page I’ve read 5 year ago. I loved the plot, the characters, the forbidden romance and the research Sylvain Reynard did on this passion for Dante. This also awaken by curiosity for Italian Art and I think it was amazing to actually learn something cultural while reading an intense love story. Thanks to this author, I’ve purchased my copy of the “Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri.

The series is complex, the love story is intense and Gabriel is too good to be true. I know he is a fictional character, but the way the embodies flaws and qualities intrigued me. His temper, his serious attitude, but also his gentlemen style and intelligence sold me immediately and he quickly became my favorite hero from romance books. He is 2 persons in one and the way he was crafted takes some serious talent by an author. 🙂

When I first saw Giulio Berruti as Gabriel I was not totally convinced, because my imagination was a little bit blurry. I didn’t have a clear picture of Gabriel, but I was not over the moon with the actor Passion Flix choosed. BUT!!! After seeing the movie, things changed so much and especially while seeing Part 2. I wanted to watch them with an open mind and not be influenced only by the looks of the actors, because they have to embody the characters from all POV’s.

Melanie Zanetti as Julia is Heaven. I lover her and all the scenes with her are amazing. She is so delicate, so sweet and I really think she does an amazing job. In this moment I truly believe we have a 1.1 fit.

Gabriel’s Inferno is the first book from the series, followed by Gabriel’s Rapture, Gabriel’s Redemption and Gabriel’s Promise. This movie has its plot divided in 3 parts and I think the decision is rational, from commercial reasons but also bookish ones. Gabriel’s Inferno is a very detailed book and it would have been a shame to let important scenes go to waste. In this way, all our favorite dialogues are included in the movie and everybody is happy. To get  a glimpse of the plot, but not in detail, the action revolves around Professor Gabriel Emerson and his student, Julia Mitchel, who will discover love even if they will have to break all the rules. As I told you before, breaking the rules will be the least of their problems because both have a past and secrets they need to keep hidden. Gabriel, even if now is a respectable Dante specialist, has a past he wants hidden and when problems will arise, their love will be tested.

Gabriel’s Inferno Part 1 is like the introduction in the plot. We see the characters, we learn about their present and their connection, but we also get glimpses of the past and see its influence. When the action progress, we can feel the tension and the promise of what is to come, but one way or another, the culmination of what we want is not happening, yet.

Gabriel’s Inferno Part 2 was amazing and I LOVED it dearly. It was bot sad and happy, with a lot of great dialogues and romantic scenes. The intensity of their relationship was palpable, but it was extremely decent, without having anything there to cross the line. I loved that even in the book, all the love scenes where written with so much respect, both for the characters and for the readers and you could see that respect on screen. The actors were amazing and embodied Gabriel and Julia almost to perfection. In this part is impossible to not see the perfect fit. If you don’t see it, you are not a fan. 😀

I hope I was not boring, but I wanted to share with you my enthusiasm for the movies, but also for this amazing series which is worth reading. 🙂 I am sooo looking forward to seeing Part 3, because THERE we have THE scenes that are worth our patience and devotion.
