My rating: 4/5 stars

RuNyx is a very interesting author, and especially in this series, I have seen various faces of her. If we compare Predator + Reaper to Finisher, we can definitely see changes in style and an affinity for erotic scenes, which are very detailed and go towards a dark side. You can see that her favorite is indeed the dark side and that part of her is visible when crafting Alpha and the next hero to come.

Finisher is leading us in a dark universe of illegal fights and prostitution, where a serial killer is out there making victims every day. He is targeting girls that want to leave the business and he is brutally murdering them. This killer wants to frame Alessandro Villanova, a.k.a. Finisher a.k.a. Alpha and will not stop at nothing to destroy him empire. Zephyr has just seen her boyfriend cheat and she is about to loose her inheritance, because she needs to marry as soon as possible in order to have it. She proposes a deal to Alpha – marry her for 6 months and she will reveal a secret for him. Intrigued, he accepts and makes her his wife. Little does he know what letting Zephyr into his life will change him forever. They become husband and wife, but with serious communication issues. Not to mention, Alpha doesn’t have any intention of touching her, frustrating Zephyr even more in this fake marriage stuff.

Alpha has no time for fake marriage or worse – LOVE. He is depicted as a beast, with a massive body, scary, and his eye patch only brings more intensity into the picture. He has no recollection of who took his eye and left him to die in a hospital years ago, but together with that memory lies something more intense than that. Because his mother died of violence on the streets, he swore to help the girls who work for him and offer them protection, even if they work as prostitutes. He will fight with all his resources to hunt down the killer who is framing him and avenge all the women who died. Zephyr has no part in his world, but she is determined to be here because she wants him to remember her. She is such an optimistic person that there were times when I truly felt sorry for her and for her broken heart. She will use all her weapons and will make Alpha fall in love with her, even if she will lose a part of herself.

Alpha and Zephyr are very different, and because they were raised in different worlds, colliding them can be dangerous. Zephyr has no idea what Alpha is into, but she is ready to blend in, all for his love and for his memories. Alpha was an intense guy, but the real heroine of the story is Zephyr, for her devotion, optimistic self, and love towards him. She truly shifted the balance and offered that fighting spirit to the book, making it more about her than him, a thing which I loved. 🙂
