My Rating: 4/5 Stars
I consider myself a huge fan of Penelope Douglas and I have read most of her books. For a certain reason I’ve let Jake Undone not on my priority list and I’m so blaming myself for it. The first word that pops in mind when thinking of this book is INTENSE and I don’t even know where to begin. So, here it goes! Nina moves in NY in order to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She is staying in an apartment with her best friend and girlfriend and there she meets Jake. He is also staying with them there and quickly they become friends, but we can also see the intensity of the connection that bind them. Soon after they become friends they manage to heal each other in the most amazing way. Nina has soon issues that are hard to get over and Jake is there by her side, encouraging ther conquer her fears and be happy about it. Jake also has a heartfull past, burdens that make imposible for him to move on, to love somebody and be happy. When he met Nina, all his boundaries were torn appart and reading how they interract, what type of connection they have, was amazing for me to witness. Their relationship is special and again, intense. This word is what sums up this book and evertything in it. They discover each other on all levels, they fall in love in such an unique way, and makes the reader experience this kind of pressure, waiting for them to be finally together. I like the way Penelope experimented with 2 main ideas: conquering your fears and second chances. This book wants to send a strong message and please read carefully in order to understand it. It is so optimistic and you will totally see life in another way once you connect at that level with the characters and live their story. The second past of the book was amazing, I’ve read it without breathing and the intensity of the story and dialogues was overwhelming. There were so many things going on, I felt things at another level and it was impossible not to live it fully. |
