What a kick ass series it has been:) I am so blown away by it and I can’t stop saying how much I loved it and what an impact it had on me. I never read anything similar and maybe that’s why I am so thrilled to share it with you, but please, if you haven’t read it, make it quick.
“The Retribution of Mara Dyer” is the third installment in the series and it was the most reveling, as expected. It was also the most complex I believe, in terms of plot and Mara’s evolution. Have you ever seen X-Men when Jean Grey becomes the Phoenix? I imagined her that way, unleashed, dangerous, dark and very keen on revenge.
So, I won’t reveal a lot from the plot, only that book 2 left us hanging and book 3 promised to deliver the answers necessary for us to be contend and to figure out finally how our favorite characters turned out with special abilities. Reveling is mildly expressed, it was intense and of course surprising almost after each chapter.
I want to focus 2 minutes on Mara, in talking about her evolution and figuring out what type of a character she is. The problem with Mara is that you don’t know in what category to put her. She isn’t 100% good and after all she has been through at her age, I never judged her or wanted this character to have a certain behavior. I just let her express herself and kept on reading until seeing the extend of her powers and emotions. She is very atypical and this feature makes her special and worth discovering. I believe that was exactly the thing that made Noah fall in love with her:) In book 3 she spends a lot of time apart from Noah and she makes her own path and takes decisions because she wants too.. Maybe not all of them are understandable, but considering the circumstances, it must be very difficult to keep a clear head and pure heart after everything that happened.
The pace of the book was kind of flat for the first half, but the second was adrenaline packed and very well structured. I forgot to breathe sometimes, not knowing I will face next. I enjoyed the knowledge, the clear info that was passed along the reader and it was visible that Michelle did serious research for the book. Everything was accurate, precise and left you so powered up that in the end, you felt kind of tired with all the information and things that happened. I really put a lot of energy in the plot and in making the correct connections.
And to finish with, the love story was beautiful and intense and the end was SPECTACULAR. I am a sucker for Romance and I’ve read various levels of intensity for this genre, but there were 2 scenes between Noah and Mara that broke my heart and put the pieces together piece by piece. I am going to let you discover them by yourself:)

Voi spune acest lucru de câte ori voi avea ocazia: dacă nu aţi citit seria “Mara Dyer” de Michelle Hodkin până acum, trebuie să va schimbaţi serios priorităţile şi să o începeţi. Pentru mine este cea mai bună serie descoperită în acest an şi sincer nu cred că altă poveste o va devansa.
“Mara Dyer. Răzbunarea” este ultima parte din trilogia ce poarte numele eroinei şi aici cititorii vor obţine toate răspunsurile pe care le şi le doreau. Pentru cei ce nu sunt foarte familiarizaţi cu intriga şi personajele, în câteva cuvinte acţiunea se poate rezuma aşa: Mara Dyer este o adolescentă ce a suferit o traumă teribilă. Iubitul şi cea mai bună prietenă au murit într-un cumplit accident şi ea este singura supravieţuitoare, acest lucru lăsând-o cu teribile sechele. De la acel eveniment Mara are halucinaţii puternice, îşi vede prietenii morţi la tot pasul şi lucrurile încep să se complice din ce în ce mai mult. În curând aceasta va avea abilitatea de a omorâ persoane în modul în care şi-l imaginează, lucru care o îngrozeşte şi o face să se îndoiască de sănătatea ei mentală. În scenă îşi face apariţia Noah Shaw, un tânăr irezistibil, cu o personalitate fermecătoare, ce are foarte multe în comun cu eroina noastră. Împreună devin un cuplu foarte frumos, care a cucerit inimile cititorilor şi care sunt aparent legaţi de multe întâmplări.
În volumul 3, Mara este dezlănţuită şi puten vedea partea întunecată a puterii sale, care combinată cu setea de răzbunare, durerea şi pierdea este letală în adevăratul sens al cuvântului. Aceasta devine din ce în ce mai conştientă de ceea ce poate să facă, de latura sa negativă şi într-un fel, o îmbrăţişează ca o parte a naturii sale. Noah încearcă să îi arate că deşi a fost înzestrată cu aceste puteri, îşi poate crea un drum în viaţă în alt sens, alături de el. Ne sunt prezentaţi întotdeaua în antiteză, bun Vs. rău, lumină Vs. întuneric şi pun cititorul de multe ori pe gânduri în legătură cu predestinarea lor.
Mara Dyer vrea să creadă că există ceva dincolo de minciunile care i s-au spus. Există. Nu se întreabă unde ar putea duce încercarea ei de a află adevărul. Ar trebui să se întrebe. Nu şi-a imaginat niciodată cât de departe poate merge că să se răzbune. Acum o va face. Trădare, vină, secrete adânc îngropate şi puterea destinului – toate alcătuiesc acest deznodământ surprinzător al seriei Mara Dyer. Vremea răzbunării a sosit.
Din punctul meu de vedere aceasta a fost cea mai bună carte din trilogie, deoarece ca orice ultim volum, ne dezvăluie informaţii şi ne lipește foarte multe goluri pe care le-am acumulat pe parcursul lecturii. În afară de completarea spaţiilor lipsă, am văzut şi o evoluţie a personajelor, acestea fiind acum mult mai mature şi mai complete. Intriga este foarte complexă şi complicată, de unde toate laudele lui Michelle pentru documentare şi modul în care a aşternut pe hârtie povestea celor doi. Recomand cu căldură mai ales ultimele capitole, ce pentru mine au fost cu adevărat speciale.
