Hello dears and pleased to write to you again:) This interview is very special, because K.A.Tucker, one of my favorite authors agreed to talk to me. She was lovely in ripping hours from her schedule to answer my questions and I am very grateful for that. You all know “Ten Tiny Breaths”!! Its is impossible not to have love this book and have it on your kindle/shelves. She is an amazing author, with great sensibility and a natural talent for everything meaning UNFORGETTABLE reads 🙂 Enjoy!
Ramona: To start with, please share something about yourself with the readers 🙂
Kathleen: Thank you for having me here! I am a novelist, a Canadian, a wife, and a mother of two beautiful girls.
Ramona: Do you have a writing routine? A place where you write, or a certain amount of time you write per day?
Kathleen: I write every day, unless I’m taking a short break after a deadline. I’m a creature of habit, and I’m most comfortable writing in my office. Though, I’ve recently started working at my cottage during the summer months and I have to say, I quite like it 😀
Ramona: Do you know where the story is going when you sit down to write it? Do you outline?
Kathleen: I’ve tried outlining, but it has never worked for my process. I’m desperate to find a way that does work, because it would make writing a first draft less painful. I always start with an idea and see where the characters take me. This is NOT how you write suspense, where intricate plotting is necessary.
Ramona: Who would be your favorite hero and heroine from your books? I loved Rain from Becoming Rain and Trent from Ten Tiny Breaths !!
Kathleen: This is a tough question to answer, as I love all of my characters. I’ll pick the two that popped into my mind first: Brett from Until It Fades. He’s a knight in shining armor, despite the fact that Catherine saves him from certain death. My favourite heroine: Alex/Water from Burying Water. She’s quiet and unassuming, but so strong considering what she has faced.
Ramona: How focused are you on the message you want to transmit through your books?
Kathleen: I write stories to entertain and to put readers into situations that most wouldn’t face in their own lives. These stories are crafted from real life scenarios (serious ones involving drunk driving, car theft rings, prostitution, teacher-student relationships; as well as everyday situations—struggles with employment, painful break-ups, bad friendships). I see messages that are transmitted through my stories as an outcome of a person stepping into someone else’s shoes and feeling for them, but I don’t set out to preach or teach a message.
Ramona: Could you tell us something about your next project?
Kathleen: I have a contemporary romance releasing in just a few weeks, called Until It Fades. It’s an emotional but happy story about a young single mom struggling to make ends meet, who saves the life of a famous hockey player. She doesn’t want the attention that comes with it, but is unable to avoid it forever. It has a Cinderella-esque feel to it (but it’s not a retelling of Cinderella, by any means.) I’ve also just completed a romantic suspense called Keep Her Safe. It’s releasing in January 2018 and it is about as opposite to Until It Fades as you can get, BUT the romance in it is, I think, something special.
Ramona: Please share a message with the fans that love your work.
Kathleen: I just want to thank you all for reading and sharing your love of my books. It is your praises and word-of-mouth that keeps me writing stories that you will hopefully love.
