My rating: 3/5 stars
I am not Penelope’s number 1 fan, but I always enjoyed her writing and her stories. She is something else, something different and her style is definitely unique. She doesn’t write pure Romance, her stories are raw and she inserts love stories into the plot to make the writing more comfortable.

“Falls Boys” is the first book from a new series and a spin-off to the Fall Away series, stories which include the main character’s children, with their own adventures. The first one is Hawken, Jax and Juliette’s son.
The story started really well and it was very intense. It’s about different people getting together and being forced to live under the same roof. Aro is collecting money for her boss, who is a drug dealer. She lives in the poor side of the city and because she has to take care of the siblings, she is forced to do whatever it takes to have them safe. She clashes with Hawk and after a very interesting night in which they both get into trouble, they decide to hide into Carnival Tower, until they figure things out and try to come clean, going back to their lives.
This perspective was awesome and I really thought I was going to like this forced proximity, but the fire burnt out too quickly and the whole idea was confusing. I tried to be attentive and understand the plot, but it wasn’t very clear to me. I was confused with the characters, which one are they and who they belong to, not to mention that girls have boys’ names, which confused me more… And besides that, I didn’t capture the plot’s essence and deal.
What did Penelope want to tell us with this book? The action was harsh, the romance was not so exciting and the characters felt a bit off, especially Aro. I couldn’t relate to Aro and come to think of it, not to Hawk entirely, because he was SOOOO in his head during the whole book, which made it impossible for me to understand.
So… I was very enthusiastic at the beginning, but things changed fast, up to the point when I got bored because the writing was odd and I couldn’t understand what I was reading…I am not very sure I will continue the series. 😦
