I am totally in love with Samantha’s series and this spin-off has the feels and heart of the original series. Although, I can say here style was more intense in this book and I really enjoyed it because it went above the other books and created a unique atmosphere.
Walker and Sloane were predictable because you could feel their tension and chemistry from the other books, but their story really impacted me. I expected Walker to be that way, but Sloane surprised me. It is one of Samantha’s patterns to go with powerful heroines, but seeing her this way, really impressed me and made me admire her. Single mom, the powerful lady that had to let go of her past and start over – everything in life was hard for her.
The 2 of them start their relationship in a casual way, but develop so strong feelings that you can really feel them from the page of your book. Walker is letting his walls down piece by piece and Sloane is letting somebody into her life and into her daughter’s life, which is a very big deal.
Vs the other books, the story was well-paced and balanced. It had tension and it had thriller events throughout all of the story, not just only at the end. I liked this approach and considered it more suitable for my style because it broke a pattern that was getting predictable in the previous books. Now you had no idea what is going on and I like it a lot!!!!!
What can I say? The idea of a spin-off after 5 books in the same universe didn’t seem like a good idea at the beginning, but it appears Samantha has ideas and a lot in store for her characters. All the stories are original and well handled and besides that, we get to see all the gang together again, which you will simply adore!!!
