BEST PARANORMAL LOVE STORY EVEEEEEEER!!!
I took a break from my romance//contemporary romance books and gave The Lux Series a chance. I wasn’t remotely disappointed.
The story to begin with is very simple: Katy moves in West Virginia with her mom after her father died of cancer, seeking a new beginning for both of them. Katy is your typical girl next door and I loved her from minute one and connected with her so much. She is passionate about books, has a book blog and well, this kind of sums up her social life. Driven by her mother to go out and make friends, she knocks on her neighbors door only to find Daemon. The attraction that she feel for him is undeniable, because of course he is smoking hot, but the moment they speak, everything fells apart. He is rude to her without any reason and tries to send her away. From this point on a very strange relationship begins for them, and their interaction is kind of inevitable because Katy is now best friends with Dee, Daemon twin sister, thing that sets him off more and makes it his mission to annoy Katy in the most horrible way possible.
They have no choice but to spend time together and Daemon is a very hard to read type of guy. He pushes Katy away for no good reason, but in the meantime you can figure out how much he likes her and want to spend time with her. His indecision is very annoying sometimes and the readers tend to have a love hate relationship with Daemon, because of the way he acts towards Katy.
Things progress fast and Katy is sucked in Daemon and Dee’s world without even knowing: to make this quick- they are aliens settled on Earth after their home planed Lux was destroyed by the Arum ( Light Vs Darkness theme).
Being aliens means that they have certain abilities; they can morph into other creatures and humans, they are fast, strong, can manipulate light and most important they can heal. Once Katy learns about their kind, she has no other choice but to stay by their side in order to be safe and keep her mother out of harms way. Soon she learns that there are more aliens than Daemon and Dee, and that not everyone is what they seem to be.
Inevitably the bad guys come for the Luxen and Katy is considered vulnerable. Here is where Daemon changes and you will definitely fell in love with him. We get to see his protective and charming side, the one that will risk his life in order to keep Katy safe. Their relationship changes dramatically and without even knowing, they will fell in love.
What I loved about this book was the funny side of the story, the dialogues where hilarious and mostly the ones between Daemon and Katy, these two providing some funny as hell material to read. Their chemistry is off the charts and the thing I liked the most about this is that there weren’t many hot scenes involved, only the ones built by sexual tension, that felt like a balloon ready to explode anytime.
They are perfect for each other and I cannot wait for them to realize that.
The book was action packed, the descriptions were amazing, a big applause to Jennifer for making this book seen like a movie. The plot was like a stream, flowing naturally and having all in place.
A big plus for this books are the secondary characters- Dee was sweet, funny and caring, ready to do anything to protect her friends and family.
This unity pictured in the book is very inspirational, all of the Luxen being ready to give up their lives in order to see their loves one safe.
There are many twist and turns in this book, but I will let you discover them by yourself.

Sunt convinsă că deja v-am înnebunit cu poveştile de dragoste siropoase, dar nu mă pot abţine. Însă promit că vin acum cu ceva mai special, şi anume cu o poveste de dragoste aparţinând genului Paranormal. Obsidian este prima carte din seria Lux scrisă de Jennifer L. Armentrout şi sunt extrem de încântată că am descoperit-o. Dacă doriţi o lectură uşoară, amuzantă, romantică şi plină de peripeţii şi suspans, atunci nu trebuie să mai căutaţi.
Personajul principal al acestei cărţi este Katy, o tânără care s-a mutat recent cu mamă ei în statul Virginia. Suferă după pierderea tatălui ei, iar această mutare poate reprezenta o şansă pentru amândouă la o viaţă liniştită. Totul este nou pentru ea şi încerca să se adapteze, să îşi facă prieteni şi poate încet încet, va redeveni fată veselă de acum ceva timp. Încurajată de mama ei să socializeze, încearcă să cunoască vecinii din casa de lângă, deoarece din ce a văzut aceasta, ar fi cam de aceeaşi vârstă şi poate s-ar împrieteni. Evident lucrurile nu stau aşa.. În momentul în care bate la uşa vecinilor, îi deschide Daemon Black. La prima vedere este un tânăr irezistibil, chipeş, cu un corp de milioane, dar în momentul în care i se adresează totul se schimbă. Daemon este extrem de nepoliticos, bădăran şi o enervează la culme pe Katy a noastră. În mod ciudat, Katy se împrieteneşte cu sora lui Daemon, Dee, şi petrece foarte mult timp cu aceasta, deşi fratele ei nu este de acord şi îşi exprimă punctul de vedere de câte ori are ocazia.
Mesajul transmis până acum este că cei diferiţi se atrag şi deşi Katy şi Daemon aparent nu se suportă, în sinea lor se plac. Şi mult!!! Venirea lui Katy aici va declanşa o grămadă de evenimente şi în cele din urmă, aceasta va realiza că familia Black nu este ceea ce pare. Ei sunt de fapt extraterestii numiţi Luxeni, veniţi pe Pământ fără niciun gând rău. Doresc doar să se adapteze şi să scape nedetectaţi de duşmanii lor de moarte, Arum. În momentul în care Katy află secretul lor, devine o ţintă vie şi va fi datoria lui Daemon să o protejeze. Nu-i aşa că v-am stârnit curiozitatea? Eu cred că da..
Obsidian reprezintă o aventură de la început până la ultima pagină. Katy, trebuie să recunosc, nu a fost eroina mea preferată, pentru că uneori poate să fie puţin răsfăţată şi greu de înţeles, însă este un personaj puternic, ce a reuşit să evolueze mult faţă de primele capitole ale cărţii. Daemon este cel mai mare nesuferit şi deşi eram conştientă de modul în care o tratează pe Katy, nu puteam să nu râd la replicile sale acide şi pline de umor. Este un erou foarte puternic, atât din pricina harului pe care îl posedă ca Luxen, dar şi datorită personalităţii puternice, încăpăţânării şi loialităţii fără măsură. Pentru mine a fost fascinant să văd cum de la o relaţie plină de ură şi ironie, cei doi încep încet încet să se împrietenească şi în cele din urmă să se îndrăgostească. Evident drumul este greu, presărat cu pericole, însă probabil la sfârşitul cărţii veţi considera că a meritat din plin, pentru că relaţia lor este foarte dinamică şi destul de tumultoasă, atât în momentele romantice cât şi în cele dramatice.
Stilul lui Jennifer mi-a plăcut foarte mult. Eu am mai citit cărţile ei scrise sub un alt pseudonim iar înclinaţia ei este mai mult spre romantic decât spre paranormal. Mi-a demonstrat însă că este capabilă să creeze un scenariu de film, pentru că din punctul meu de vedere, asta am citit. O acţiune foarte bine structurată, cu scene clare, pline de acţiune, cu personaje puternice care întăresc această structură bine pusă la punct. În afară de eroi, mi-au plăcut foarte mult şi personajele secundare, construite fantastic şi care au asistat perfect cuplul nostru, având şi ei un rol important în poveste.
Seria are în total 5 cărţi şi deabia aştept să le citiţi pe toate, garantându-vă că nu le veţi putea lăsa din mână. Fiecare capitol crează întrebări şi astfel tensiunea acumulată te apasă din ce în ce mai mult. O recomand cu drag atât pentru fanii genului cât şi pentru cei care vor să încerce ceva nou şi incitant.
