Oh my Gods!!!!! I thought that Lux was unbelievable and one of a kind, but after reading this one, I can tell you that Jennifer delivers blow by blow and makes each series unique. It took me long enough to read this one, firstly because I wanted to read the Covenant and after that The Titans. But after reading the blurb, I came to the conclusion that the Covenant was too long and not being a patient person, I tried the second one:))

I have to say that it was a hit for me. I love Greek Mythology and everything that has to do with it and combining that with a killer plot and HOT couple, yes, you have me drooling.

Seth is a Apollyon (I will let you discover what that means) and was given a mission by Apollo, his master. To protect Josie, a normal girl that studies Psychology. Firstly he has to idea why he has to keep a mortal safe, but after a while, he discovered that Josie was in fact a demi-god and Apollo’s daughter that he had with her mortal mother.

Josie was also a powerful weapon and  apparently, not the only one. There were others like her, with superhuman abilities, and combining their gifts, they could be WOW! Now that the Titans escaped and were out for revenge against the Gods, the demi-gods were the only weapon out there to kill them once and for all. This thing also made them a target, because the Titans won’t give up that easily and will certainly kill them before they even get the chance to use their powers.

Here enters Seth to protect Josie and to get her somewhere safe. On their journey they will face many dangerous creatures and situations, they will learn a lot about each other and will be drawn inexplicably together.

Seth was a very fine hero for me and I am very glad that I didn’t read Covenant first, because I wanted to form a freshly opinion about him that was not influenced by his past actions. I know he did a lot of bad things and now his mission with Josie was the redemption readers were waiting for. Seth believes that he doesn’t deserve to be happy, to have somebody by his side that could love him knowing what he did. When he saw Jodie a super connection happened and he really tried to fight it, but couldn’t.

Jodie had her life changed in a matter of seconds, from student to demi-god. She kind of lost her identity and throughout the book she will struggle to cope and to fit in in a different universe. She will fell in love with Seth despite his heavy past and I loved that she was not judgemental or anything, just trying to accept that person for her heart, not her actions.

The book was simply amazing, with a lot of information to digest and delicious characters. I enjoyed the fact that we were briefed about what happened in the Covenant and that we could adjust that story to this one. The funny scenes were amazing and so well built, it reminder me a little of Lux 😀

După ce am citit seria Lux, admirația mea pentru Jennifer L.Armentrout a crescut considerabil. Eram obișnuită cu stilul ei sub un alt pseudonim (J.Lynn), însă trebuie să recunosc.. este perfectă indiferent de genul pe care îl abordează. Fie că vorbim de “Obsidian” sau de seria “Te aștept”, are acel “ceva” ce te ține cu sufletul la gură, te face să te atașezi de personaje și să trăiești intens fiecare pagină. “Întoarcerea” nu este o exceptie.

Am încercat seria Titanii având ca termen de comparație seria Lux. Am considerat că dacă am iubit prima serie, trebuie să îmi placă și aceasta.. Am avut dreptate!!! Am considerat că există multe elemente comune între ele. Nu! Aici am greșit! Dragi cititori, nu porniți cu aceeași idee pe care am avut-o și eu. Seria Titanii este complet diferită, cu noțiuni și personaje complet diferite, dar care se completează perfect. Poate au în comun stilul inconfundabil al lui Jennifer, însă în rest trebuie tratate separat.

Seth este personajul principal, un Apollyon ( va las pe voi să descoperiți ce înseamnă) despre care nu știm foarte multe. Cunoaștem doar că are o misiune. Să o protejeze pe Josie, aparent o fată normală, care studiază psihologia și care nu are ceva special sau ieșit din comun. Cum probabil ați înțeles deja, în momentul în care se vor întâlni, totul se va schimba. Seth îi va arăta lui Josie o lume despre care aceasta nu știa, o lume mitologică, ce îi va schimba total viziunea asupra menirii sale. Aceasta află că de fapt tatăl ei este zeul Apollo și că ea este un semi-zeu cu niște puteri nebănuite. Astfel, Josie devine singura armă împotriva unor ființe foarte puternice, Titanii, care doresc răzbunare pentru faptul că au fost întemnițate timp de decenii. Acum liberi, vor să distrugă totul în cale, inclusiv semi-zeii care le amenință existența. Așa este, Josie nu este singura, mai sunt alții ca ea și care împreună îi pot ucide. Misiunea lui Seth acum este să o protejeze pe Josie și să o ducă într-un loc sigur. Ce nu a plănuit el este faptul că Josie îl va atrage într-un mod inexplicabil și că aceasta va fi singura lui șansă de izbăvire.

Se vor îndrăgosti și totul va deveni o luptă de suprimare a unor sentimente interzise. Interesant de văzut cât vor rezista să se opună, însă tot ce pot să vă spun este că deși la prima vedere este o poveste SF, relația dintre cei doi duce povestea în zona romantismului specific lui Jennifer. Înseamnă că unele scene vor încinge mult atmosfera și fetele în special vor aprecia acest lucru:)

Din ce am citit, această serie este un spin-off al seriei “Covenant” (o poveste secundară ce derivă dintr-o poveste principală) unde Seth a avut un rol important. Ceea ce mi-a plăcut a fost faptul că nu am citit seria originară și așa mi-am putut forma o părere sinceră despre acest personaj, fără să fiu influențată de ceea ce a făcut el în trecut. Aflăm despre trecutul lui în această carte, însă suntem lăsați să judecăm la rece totul, fără să pornim deja cu o părere preconcepută. Josie a fost un personaj pe gustul meu, vulnerabil, sensibil, dar care crede cu tărie în anumite lucruri și le duce până la capăt indiferent de situație. Îl schimbă mult pe Seth, dar și ea la rândul ei devine o persoană mai puternică și mai sigură.

“Întoarcerea” este o carte foarte complexă, pornind de la firul narativ complicat ce are în spate date mitologice și terminând cu personajele principale, între care s-a creat o conexiune intensă. Este o poveste ce te ține cu sufletul la gură, te face să te bucuri, să râzi și să plângi alături de Seth și Josie. O recomand cu drag și ca o confesiune, trebuie să spun că deja am început cartea a 2a, pentru că este imposibil să aștept traducerea acesteia pentru a vedea ce mai fac eroii noștri 🙂
