We Love… Tijan

Imagini pentru tijan booksToday I am going to share with you a very warm and honest interview with the lovey Tijan. She agreed to answer my questions and I am very happy to have her on my blog. She is an amazing author and her books had always left me breathless. Her characters are so well written and it is imposible not to love or identify with them. Make sure to check out her flawless work if by any chance you are not familiar with it 🙂

Ramona: To start with, please share something about yourself with the readers 🙂

Imagini pentru veronica marsTijan: Hello! I’m Tijan. I’m shy in real life and always get embarrassed with attention. lol! Questions like these are always hard for me to answer. Um…I love cuddling with my pup, my man, and watching Veronica Mars!!

Ramona: What do you love most about writing?

Tijan: I love everything about writing. I’m kind of a nerd in that way. The only parts that I struggle with are promotion and marketing. But when I write, oh my gosh. I’m so happy then. I love getting lost in a story. I love that I can slip away into this other universe, and it can be any kind I create myself. Then I love the editing part, of making it better, and I absolutely loooove when I get the paperbacks. I get so giddy excited, and I usually just stare at the finished product for a while. Lol!

Ramona: Tell us about your writing style, how is it different from other writers?

Tijan: I honestly have no idea. I just write, and I hope people like what I write. That’s all I can think of. I’m not the type to try and analyze it or figure why people like so and so’s work, but not mine. That’s not me. I tend to focus on my own projects…if that makes sense?

Ramona: What is your take on the importance of a good cover and title?

Tijan: Covers are always important. It’s what catches the eye and as for the title–it’s important, but you have to stay true to the story. I generally title the book whatever I call it in my head. I like different titles. I guess I just use a title and cover that I like myself, or would be attracted to as a reader.

Ramona: What books have influenced your life the most?

Tijan: No particular book, but I read a ton of Nora Roberts (JD Robb) and Charlaine Harris when I was younger. Janet Evanovich too. I think my style of writing was influenced by them.

Ramona: How did you celebrate the publishing of your first book?

Tijan: I’m so lame because I didn’t. I was extremely tight-lipped about my writing early on and still am, to an extent. When I first started, I didn’t want anyone to take it away from me and by that I mean, like they’d make me feel bad about my writing or something so I didn’t start telling people until later on when they couldn’t. So I think a part of that is still with me, but I did celebrate with a dinner with friends when I quit working full-time to just be an author. That was a big milestone for me.

Ramona: If you had the choice to rewrite any of your books, which one would it be and why?

Tijan: None! I know I have sucky books, but they are what they are. I am not one to look back and regret things. I wrote those books at that time in my life because that’s where I was in my writing career. Some people like earlier books and don’t like my current ones. Some people say my writing is so much better now than then, so; nothing! I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m pretty proud of everything I’ve written, regardless if they were bestsellers or not.

Ramona: Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

Tijan: I used to, and I do now to some extent. I stopped when reviews began to affect my writing, and after that; I would have someone else read the reviews to see if there’s anything I can learn from. Most difficult is the promoting for me. I always worry if I did enough to try and help my book do the best it could, until I get to a point where I just have to let it go. However my book does is how it’s supposed to do. The easiest part is always the writing. Always.

Ramona: If you had only one 1 second to think, which one of your books are you the proudest of and why?

Imagini pentru fallen crest highTijan: I’m one of those authors who can’t choose. I generally say Fallen Crest High, but that’s because it seems to be the most loved. The truth is that I love all my books. I’m not a fan of picking which is better or one that I’m most proud of over the others. However, all that said, there is one book in me. If I get it out of me, I will be proud of myself because it’ll be the hardest book I’ll ever have written. It’s been in me for four years now and it still won’t let me write it. Not yet.

Ramona: To what hero and heroine from your books do you relate the most?

Tijan: All of them. They’re all versions of me. There isn’t anyone that I relate to more than the others. The good, bad, and ugly– they’re all sides of me………which is kind of scary now! lol!

Ramona: Can you tell us about your current projects?

Tijan: Fallen Crest Six is coming out April 17th!!! Fallen Crest Seven is with proofreaders now. I have to have it done a little early because of my paperback publisher. Then I have a completely new stand-alone coming out in the early fall. It’s total new adult, all about college. I loved loved loved writing it, but I have no clue if readers will enjoy it. I hope, but you just never know. And I’ve Carter Reed 3 still circulating in my head. I keep trying to write it, but they’re not letting me for some reason. I just started a brand new young adult today, but I have a feeling I’ll be going between the young adult book and Carter Reed 3 over the next couple months.

Ramona: What is your relationship with your readers? Please share a message with them:)

Tijan: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THEM! I would still be writing (I will always have to write), but I wouldn’t be able to do this as my living if it weren’t for them. Readers are like the bread for writers. We need bread and water to live, and writing is one part with readers being the other part. Does that make sense?
