I am so happy to have read this book and I want to share with you my enthusiasm for finding and having it on my book shelves. I love Laini ever since reading “The Daughter of Smoke and Bone” and I literally hunt all her books to find something as good as the previous one.

“Strange the Dreamer” is surely one of her best books YTD, because she managed to increase the level so high, practically reaching perfection. It’s a complete and mature book, with an unique plot that is very hard not to be reveled without spoiling much. Lazlo Strange is a very special kid, orphan and brought up by monks. At the age of 12, he discovers his passion for book and reading and develops an obsession for “The Unseen City”. He wants to discover it, to visit it and his passion is so intense that he learns the language, even if the city has been buried for centuries. When Lazlo has signs that the city actually exists, the adventure begins because he is not giving up on his dreams of finding it.

I can write 10 ages about the book, plot and characters:) Lazlo was my kind of character, a very sweet and innocent child, a book worm, without a social life, with book as friends. He is not physically handsome, but his heart is so warm and gentle, that you want to be his friend, to keep him safe. He is kind and so determined to go on this adventure, radiates hope, being an example for the ones he interacts with.

Besides the characters, Laini’s readers know her style and trademarks. I consider this book the best from her, because the plot is amazing and so original, something out of this world. It brings you in a different dimension, such a complex and exciting one. Of course there is a message behind the plot, and in this case, there were 2 very highlighted: racial discrimination and not having to repeat your parent’s mistakes. To this, we add a very sweet romance, to spice up this adventure.

I totally recommend “Strange the Dreamer” because it is something special, worth your time and I can firmly say that you won’t be disappointed, even if you are familiar to Laini’s style or not. This is a truly unique experience for everyone and you will definitely find a special place for it on your bookshelves.

Sunt atât de fericită pentru că am citit această carte, încât nu mai am răbdare să vorbesc despre ea. Sunt o fană declarată a lui Laini, deoarece m-a cucerit iremediabil cu seria “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” și de atunci pur și simplu vânez cărțile ei și aștept cu nerăbdare o nouă lansare.

“Strange the Dreamer” the Laini Taylor pot spune cu ușurință că este una dintre cele mai reușite cărți ale sale, pentru că a ridicat nivelul atât de mult încât a atins perfecțiunea. Este o carte matură, cu un subiect unic gândit și atât de deosebit încât îmi este foarte greu să vi-l dezvălui fără să povestesc o parte din acțiune. Iată ce trebuie să știți: Lazlo Strange este un copil deosebit, rămas orfan și crescut de călugări. La vârsta de 12 ani descoperă pasiunea pentru citit și de atunci este însetat de cunoaștere, de mitologie, istorie și povești fantastice. Devine obsedat de Orașul Nevăzut “Unseen City” și își dorește să îl descopere. Fascinația lui pentru acest oraș devine atât de pregnantă încât învață și limba oamenilor de acolo, deși nimeni nu mai auzise de acest oraș de mulți ani. Atunci când Lazlo află că Orașul Nevăzut există, aventura adevărată începe.

Pot scrie multe pagini despre această carte și felurile în care mi-a ajuns la suflet. Lazlo este un personaj foarte drag mie, un copil pasionat de lectură (ca noi toți), ce nu are o viață socială, singurele prietene fiind cărțile. Nu este un băiat frumos fizic vorbind, însă sufletul său este atât de blând și bun, încât te îndrăgostești pe loc de el. Hotărârea lui te face să pornești și tu hotărât în aventură și să nu-ți fie frică de ce urmează să descoperi. Îți inspiră bunătate, speranță, ajutând pe toată lumea din jurul său, fiind un exemplu pentru personajele cu care interacționează.

Pe lângă personaje, cred că deja v-ați obișnuit cu stilul lui Laini Taylor și știți că se autodepășește cu fiecare poveste. “Strange the Dreamer” consider că este cea mai mare realizare a acestei autoare până în prezent, deoarece aduce în prim plan o intrigă deosebită, ce pare din altă dimensiune, complexă și captivantă. Intriga întotdeauna pregătește un mesaj puternic, în cazul de față am identificat două: discriminarea rasială și puterea de a te schimba, de a nu repeta greșelile părinților. Adăugăm acestora o legătură romantică foarte intensă și rezultă o carte incredibil de captivantă, complexă și completă.

Vine perioada sărbătorilor și sincer, dacă vreți să faceți un cadou frumos unui iubitor de lectură, vă recomand cu drag această carte, deoarece sigur se va bucura de tot ce are de oferit. Merită un loc de cinste în bibliotecă 🙂
